Mindfulness

I've been meditating off and on for a few years now and whenever I manage to commit myself to at least a few weeks at a time, I really notice the difference. I become less stressed, more compassionate, more patient, less affected by things going on around me. I'm currently using Waking Up app but have used the Headspace app previously and would highly recommend both.

Yoga

I often find that when I'm stressed my body finds a way of telling me - either with knots in my shoulders, neck and back, or with headaches. I find yoga helps me tackle the physical symptoms which allows me to feel better and to better understand my feelings. Yoga also reminds me to listen to what my body is telling me, and to ground myself in the moment (much like mindfulness).I always come back to Yoga With Adriene who also posts regular free videos online.

Sleep

There is a close link between getting good quality sleep and how you feel. You will be more patient, have more energy, be able to focus more, and you will physically feel better. There's also a link between how your body feels and how your mind feels.

Eat

There is truth to the old adage, "You Are What You Eat". What we put in to our bodies has a significant impact on how we feel and how well we function. Eat more greens, feel healthier, feel better. And it's not as daunting, difficult or time consuming as you might think. There are plenty websites that inform us on what's good to eat, and other sites that give great, healthy, simple recipes to follow.

Relationships

Whether it's friends, siblings, parents, colleagues, acquaintances, having a fulfilling, pleasurable interaction with another person does wonders for how we feel about ourselves, the world and other people. Reach out to those that are most important, often. Failing that there are ways to meet like-minded people and engage in exciting conversations or hobbies. Get out there and connect with others!
