What Happens In Counselling?
The important thing is for us to establish a way of being, a way of working together. The first session establishes that relationship and lays the foundation for what to expect in terms of 'boundaries'. We come to an agreement of how often to meet and how we might communicate with each other. You give me an idea of what you expect from counselling so that we have a direction to work towards. The sessions that follow will be about developing our relationship; finding out what works; creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to explore what you are struggling with; and start work towards your 'goal'. The hope is that we create a space or relationship in which I can challenge you.
If it suits you we can talk, otherwise we can use drawing, writing, figurines, sand tray, arts & crafts to match your communication style, or discovering other means. The sessions are adaptable and always open to change, depending on your needs.
